Vaclav Pisvejc – Elizabeth Joy Peyton – Oil on canvas ( 80×60 cm.)

Elizabeth Joy Peyton“(born 1965) is an American painter who rose to popularity in the mid-1990s. She is a contemporary artist best known for stylized and idealized portraits of her close friends and boyfriends, pop celebrities, and European monarchy.
The idealization and stylization of known celebrities has led some critics to characterize her work as being in the tradition of Andy Warhol.
Vaclav Pisvejc, Czech artist from Prague , is also painting portraits of celebrities and for some critics is too much influenced from Francis Bacon.

Vaclav Pisvejc -Monalisa research-

I have been visiting Firenze and I was hit by seeing the huge S.Orsola Complex, abbandoned since 40 years. Recently some archeological research found the rests of the Da Vinci’s model for Monna Lisa, that is Luisa Gherardini. While i was going around Florence using google map, it showed a big photo on the wall of the building. In that photo was a homeless covered with dollar bills. I went to discover the meaning and I found out it was made by Vaclav Pisvejc, artist from Prague and it was related to help seeking for investors to save the Monastery. Just few days ago an article came up from newspaper declaring Guggenheim Foundation was interested to make a contemporary art museum from the ex Monastery just in the heart of reinassance Florence.articolo imp foto
